Sharon KoblerTechnician Assistant
Sharon joined the Pet Wellness Center in 2015 as a Veterinary Assistant. She attended Southern Illinois University, where she received a Bachelors in Psychology. She is happily married to Cory, her husband, and they have a daughter named Cayla. She has lived in Southern Illinois most of her life and considers this home. She enjoys camping, fishing, hiking, anything outdoors, and movies with her family. She has an interest in animal behavior and training. She is partial to the Staffordshire Terrier and Bulldog families. She believes that all species have the right to life, and that mother nature should be respected and cherished.
Joanna SmithVeterinary Assistant
Joanna Smith joined the Pet Wellness team in March of 2020. She is currently enrolled in the online Veterinary Technician program through Purdue University. While working towards her degree she is being trained as a Veterinary Assistant. In her free time she's busy taking care of her two horses and two dogs. Joanna also enjoys spending her time with her parents, three local siblings, and visiting her two out-of-state brothers, sisters-in-law, niece and nephews.
Dr.Melanie Rossin-GrayDVMAssociate Veterinarian
Dr Melanie Rossin-Gray is an Associate Veterinarian with Pet Wellness Center. She joined the practice in 2014, after practicing in Carbondale, IL. She attended McKendree College and Souther Illinois University at Edwardsville for her undergraduate and graduate training, and received her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from the University of Illinois in 2011. Dr Rossin-Gray's love of animals began in her early childhood when she was responsible for caring for family pets, ranging from cats and dogs to horses, ferrets, exotic birds, goats, and more. She is particullarly interested in surgery, opthalmology, oncology, and exotic animal care. When not in the clinic, you can find Dr Rossin-Gray spending time with her husband, Justin, her three step children, four cats and her dog, Tucker. She looks forward to getting to care for your furry, scaly, or feathered family members.
Tina MaciellCertified Veterinary Technician
Graduated from Veterinary Technician School in Tucson, Arizona June of 2005. I primarily have worked in emergency medicine since then; which is a special interest of mine. I relocated from the west coast to be near a part of my family that I hold dear. I live in Herrin, Illinois and share my life with my two cats Jackson (Jax) and Nin. I love anything having to do with art; creating it or appreciating it. I like seeing different cultures through traveling and enjoying nature.
Dr. Kristine Kozak is originally from Homer Glen, IL, a southwest suburb of Chicago. She received her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from the University of Illinois in May of 2018. She enjoys working with all animals: dogs, cats, cattle, goats, horses, sheep, and pigs. Especially when she gets to visit them on farm calls. When not working, Dr. Kozak relaxes by gardening and going to the movies with her husband, Peter. She also likes to take long walks with her rough-coated collies named Dex and Sunshine.
Dr.J. Craig SmithVeterinarianOwner/Veterinarian
Dr. J. Craig Smith is the Practice Owner and Senior Veterinarian at Pet Wellness Center, PC. Dr. Smith graduated from the University of Arkansas with a Bachelor's Degree in Animal Science. He received his Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from Louisiana State University. Dr. Smith has special interests in surgery, internal medicine, dermatology, and dentistry. He has two pets of his own; a yellow labrador retriever named Sadie and a quarterhorse horse named Jesse. Blessed with a large family, he and his wife, Cera Smith, have five daughters: Ashley, Cera Ann, Jessica, Katherine, and Lauren. When he's not practicing medicine at the clinic, you can find him showing horses and raising his cattle. His compassionate nature and dedication to helping people and pets has helped shape Pet Wellness Center into an industry leader in veterinary excellence.
Angela FrerkingVeterinary Technician
Angie joined Pet Wellness Center in April 2011, she started as a kennel technician and over the years has moved up to the lead technician. She has a passion to provide care for pets and knowledge to owners for a lifetime of health. Angie and her husband, James lives on a small but growing farm filled with geese, ducks, chickens, guineas, peacocks and their newest addition –goats! They also have a yellow lab named Dakota, and a sassy Calico cat named Zoey! In her extra spare time Angie loves to paint, sew, embroider, wood burn and do anything crafty! If you ever see her in the clinic, she will always have a smile on her face!
